Maya is built to implement EU AI Act Article 50(1)'s disclosure requirement and GDPR principles as core design constraints. Article 50(1) transparency disclosure is implemented at first interaction and covered by an automated test suite, including a smoke check that verifies the disclosure on the deployed live page. GDPR principles are built into the technical stack: consent-based opt-in logging, data minimisation with no account or name required, EU processing and EEA storage for chat content, a 90-day retention limit, and user rights including access and erasure. As a system in production before 2 August 2026, Maya falls under the Digital Omnibus (Regulation (EU) 2026/1744) transition period, so the Article 50(2) machine-readable marking obligation applies to her from 2 December 2026. Maya's portrait is fully AI-generated and is visibly labelled "AI Generated"; the European Commission has published optional icon-labelling guidance for exactly this category of content.
